This Halo 3 hype has gotten WAY out of hand.

Even 711 has ad's for it in their stores.

Their's no telling how much money M$ has put into this console seller. Everwhere you look, theirs something Halo 3 related. Their's even Halo 3 Mountain Dew, which FYI, tastes horrible.

They're even taking reservations for it at Blockbuster by my house.

What get's me the most is; The past Halo games haven't even been that great. I remember being a freshman in high school and playing Halo on my Xbox. I beat it a few times on different difficutly levels, then traded it in for a new game.

Halo 2's career mode stunk. The multiplayer isn't even all that fantastic.

Why in the world is the Halo series so darn popular? The graphics for the previous games haven't even been all that impressive for their time. Sure, online multiplayer's fun, but I've played way better multiplayer games then that.

Also, when they Halo 3 beta came out, everyone thought that it looks like more Halo 2.5 then 3 because visually it wasn't that impressive.

I'm sure I'll pick it up at some point. Quake Wars is coming out Oct. 2nd, and the demo for Crysis is out the same day Halo 3 is out. I think I'll be plenty busy playing those.

So anyway, I came across something today that inspirsed me to write about this. They have released a video teaser for a trailer. Yes, that's right. A teaser trailer for a trailer that's coming out soon.

This is madness. Everybody and their mother/father/sister/grandfather/grandmother/neighbor/uncle/aunt/cousins/second cousins are going to be playing this game when it comes out.

America. We still have some progress to make.

This article makes me somewhat sick. Pretty much, unless you're a white male whose a Christian, you have a lot less likely chance to become President of our country.

"One in four people in the U.S. said in a recent poll that they would be less likely to support a presidential candidate who is Mormon, an ominous sign for Republican contender Mitt Romney."

"Yet the survey found two groups, atheists and Muslims, were even less likely to win votes.
Sixty-one percent of those questioned said they would be less likely to support a presidential candidate who did not believe in God. Forty-five percent said the same for a Muslim contender."

Come on. That's just stupid. Why would you not vote for a President, for a country that was NOT founded on any religion, just because he's NOT Christian. Apparently, 61% of the people surveyed wouldnt.

Their could be a male or female that would be perfect to lead this country, but if that person were Athiest, they probably wouldn't get voted in. They could have a higher set of morals then other candidates running that are self proclaimed christians. But that doesn't matter. It's the fact that they aren't Christian.

Read the article for more info on it. Theirs still plenty of racism and sexism in our country. And apparently, we still aren't too accepting of candidates that aren't older white male Christians.

My Best Buy and Circuit City complaints

So this was my first time buying a laptop. Now did I really, really need one? No. I already have an ubber 1337 computer at home. But they are pretty darn handy for school. Here are the sepcs-

-AMD X2 TK-53
-160gig hard drive
-ATI Radeon Xpress 1100
-Not sure of the chipset or mobo
-2x1gigs Kingston

The laptop did come with 1gig of memory (2x512's), which pissed me off. While I was at Circuit City, I purchased 2 gigs of some Kingston DDR2 533 that I knew would get the job done.

When I got home, I decided to see how slow it would run with the 1gig. It was borderline un-bareable. The boot up took forever, as did launching the 10 programs the thing came pre-installed with.

2 gigs makes SUCH a huge improvement over 1 gig it's rediculous. The fact they even sell laptops with vista home premium and 1 gig of memory with onboard video pisses me off. That's like saying , "Here's you're laptop you paid a grip for, have fun waiting 5 minutes for it to boot up and wait 30 minutes while it tries to install the 29 updates for Windows the first time you turn it on".

Now you might ask yourself "Why didn't you just buy a laptop with 2 gigs of memory in it to begin with?". I was on a budget, I didn't need that great of a proc or video card for for it, and their aren't any laptops for under $700 with 2 gigs of memory. And you're pretty much stuck getting Home Premium.

But you know why I think they do it? Why they sell Home Premium on laptops that should NOT be running it? So those STUPID wannabe tech guys at Firedog can get business. Oh, and they don't even sell Windows XP anymore. So unless you want to go online and install it yourself, which the average user won't want to do, you're screwed.

Here's how I think the ordering of the laptops goes down-

1) They order configured laptops from Acer, Sony, HP, and other companies with low system specs.

2) Tell them to install Windows Vista Home Premium on all of them, not even Home Basic on hardware that can't even run Premium.

3) Charge 100% more then what they probably paid them for

4) Put the laptops on display

5) Your average Joe walks in and wants to buy one. He get's talked into upgrading to more memory and a bigger hard drive. And while he's there Firedog can install them for him for some astronomical price.

That's how these things work.

And also, they wan't to charge $100 JUST TO INSTALL ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE. Are you kidding me? They charge $100 to install something you can download for free (AVG Anti-Virus).

Oh and what do they charge to install an OS? Try $129.99.

They also have this thing called "PC Tune Up". What do they do for that exactly?

-Identifying and removing spyware
-Standard virus scan*
-Clearing out Temporary files
-Clearing out Start-up files
-Configuring Windows updates
-Updating anti-spyware and anti-virus definitions and software
-PC optimization

For what price? $129.99. Oh and also, after 2-hour's, it starts costing more. But why in the world should it take longer then 2 hours to do all of that? Ok, Virus scan might take some time for the program to scan, they run an anti-apyware app, clearing out temp files and start up files takes under 2 minutse to do both, they alreayd have windows automatic updates so it does it itself, and anti-spyware and anti-virus programs update themselves when they start up.

And what is PC optimization? That consits of what? Defraging the hard drive and deleting temp files? Come on. All for $129.99? Please. That's a complete rip off.

Yes, all of these services are great to offer. We do need companies like these because generally, people aren't computer savvy. But at these prices? Please. I could charge half that and do it in half the time they do all that stuff.

Oh man, and what REALLY REALLY REALLY makes me mad, is I've only talked to one person at Circuit City, ever, in my whole entire life, that knows anything about computer hardware. Once. Granted, the guy did know his stuff, he still didn't know that the Intel Core 2 duo desktop procs are used in some laptops. But, he knew his stuff besides that.

I once had a FireDog guy try and tell me the 8400M was the highest end mobile graphics card they make.

THEY EVEN SELL COMPUTERS WITH 4GIGS OF MEMORY THAT RUN WINDOWS VISTA 32-BIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How stupid is that! Have fun never using 512megs of that.

And at Best Buy. Now I'm not saying they're all that way, because they're probably not, but the people I've delt with there are just as bad as they are at Circuit City. I went there to purchase a new router awhile ago. I talked to 3 sepereate people, and only one of them knew anything about routers. He happened to be going to school for networking, so that was a good experience. But the other guys were knuckleheads.

One time, quite awhile ago, I was at Best Buy. I can't really remember why I was, but anyway. I was talking around, and I over heard a conversation between an employee and a customer. The customer said he needed a new power supply (The poor soul had evidently never heard of Newegg). The employee does what he should, and asks him what kind of hardware he's running. The kid's running an older Athlon with an 6800gt with a gig of memory. So what does the employee suggest to the customer?

A 600 watt power supply.

I couldn't believe it when I heard it either.

I wanted to slap the employee. That's a perfect example of an employee taking advantage of a customer who obviously didn't know nearly as much about computers as he did.

I realise I just went off on a tanget about a number of things and their are probably numerous spelling and grammer errors in this as well. But man, people make me so mad. I should just start up my own computer/laptop/home entertainment store. I would ONLY hire people that knew their stuff and wouldn't take advantage of customers who didn't know as much as them, and I'd be the only store in my town that wouldn't rip people off.

1080p "True HD"

This stuff really makes me angry. The terms "True HD" and "Full HD" are marketing terms made up by Sony and other companies. They were made up for one purpose and one purpose only, to make people think if they buy a 720p set they aren't getting the full high definition exerience. But, to get that full high defitnion experience, you have to pay up the ying yang.

But salesman at the fine electronic stores forget to tell you is, the only time you will ever watch 1080p material is through-

-Blu-Ray
-HD DVD
-Xbox 360
-PS3
-Computer

TV that broadcasts in high definition is broadcasted in 1080i. And for those of you that don't know, 720p sets that have come out in the past few years can display 1080i.

Another thing that most people don't know is, cable companies don't have the bandwidth to broadcast in 1080p. So unless you have one of the things from the list I made up there, you're $4,000 1080p set of yours, isn't being used to it's full potential. You could save your self literally thousands of dollars by getting a 720p set.

What makes me the most upset about this, is that those salesman at Best Buy and other electronic stores take advantage the common man's lack of knowledge in the area.

They take advantage of the sorry saps that spend two thousands dollars for a 40" 1080p set. For those of you that don't know, 1080p on that small of screen is indistinguishable from 720p. You have to be sitting at the right distance away from the TV and have the right screen size to really tell a difference.

Sure, if you're going to be buying a 46"+ TV you're probably going to want to opt for a 1080p set. Because at that size, you're going to definitely be seeing a diffrence between the two. But before you do, ask yourself this.

Are you going to be buying into high definition DVDs, without knowing whether or not HD-DVD or Blu-rays' are going to win the format war? What if you buy into Blu-ray, pay $25 for each Blu-Ray, then the next year, Sony and other companies drop Blu-ray, and HD-DVD is the winner? Also, are you going to be playing the few Xbox 360 and PS3 video games their are in 1080p?

Maybe you're one of the few that has a computer capable of playing games at 1920x1080 at a playable frame rate? Sure if you were running an 8800 Ultra or something, but chances are, you probably aren't. You have a much better chance of playing them in 1280x720 (720p) at smooth frame rate.

Now I'm not bashing on 1080p TVs at all. They look incredible and look better then a 720p sets, providing you have the right source material.

Just keep that stuff in mind when you go out to buy a TV. Yes, 1080p sets are top of the line, theirs no question about that.

But is the premium worth it if you aren't even going to be watching stuff in 1080p? Unless you're a gamer or own a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drive, you'll be wasting money.

High School Musical star got nudie pics "leaked"!

"Hudgens’ publicist confirmed Friday that the photograph is indeed the 18-year-old star of Disney Channel’s wildly successful “High School Musical” franchise. It shows a coquettishly smiling Hudgens posing naked in a bedroom with a red curtain behind her."

"She wouldn’t say anything about who took the picture and how it slipped out onto the Internet."

For some reason, this does not surprise me.

This girl is just a young female actress looking for free publicity, that's all. High School Musical, for some odd, odd reason, has gotten huge.

Look at it this way-

Disney cranks out young stars like theirs no tomorrow. Just look at how many people have gotten their start on a Disney movie or show. At the same time, people get stuck doing the same thing over and over eg; Raven.

It's just a publicity stunt to get her name out there, to build controversy around her so she can get more popular, if anything will do it, this will.

The best site I've came across in years

http://darwinawards.com/

Darwin Award's the name. It's been around since 1994.

It's about people that well, kill themselves. On accident of course. Doing stupid, stupid, stupid things.

Take this story for example-

24 June 2007, Colorado) If you get "Footloose" and cut the rug on on an oil tank, be sure not to light a cigarette (or bong of weed) else you may soon be walking up the proverbial "Stairway to Heaven".
News reports say a crude oil storage tank exploded as two teens were jumping on it, hurling the youths to their deaths. The tank, owned by Pinnacle Oil Company, exploded during a party in Routt National Forest. The victims were identified as Samuel and Christopher, 17 and 19.
After smoking marijuana and liquoring themselves up at this "popular party spot," the "Footloose" teens decided that it would be fun to leap and cavort upon a mostly-empty oil tank. Their energetic "Saturday Night Fever" gyrations caused fumes to leak from the relief valve...
"There were several ignitions sources," according to Rio Blanco County Undersheriff Michael Joos. One teenager was smoking, and there was a bonfire nearby. One or another of these "ignition sources" sparked a flashdance that sent the two teens hurtling 150 yards away from the explosion.
So let's go over the Check Points, aka The Rules:
1. Reproduction: at 17 and 19, they weren't married, nor had they reproduced, nor can they now reproduce. Check!
2. Excellence: They thought it was wise to jump up and down on an oil tank containing 160 barrels of crude oil, while stoned out of their gourds. Check!
3. Self Selection: These two were stoned insensible, and drunker then the town drunk, while dancing on a oil tank exuding flammable vapors. And there's a campfire nearby. Check!
4. Maturity: At 17 and 19, both are over the minimum age of 16. Check!
5. Veracity: MSNBC.com and AP. Big check.
In the end, this was definitely a "Footloose" dance that turned into a "Flash*BOOM*Dance!

Haha. I had a good laugh at that. Sure, it's sad that two young guys had to lose their lives. But, come on. Jumping on a crude oil tank, stoned, smokeing a cigarette, by a bonfire. Probably the stupidest thing humanly possible to pull off.

Manhunt 2 leaked online.

Kotaku reported that the Manhunt 2 Beta got leaked online. No one knows if it's the one with n AO rating or the supposed cut down "M" rating version.

Now if only I had a modded PS2 to try her out. I remember playing Manhunt on the PS2 quite awhile ago. It was pretty fun, and somewhat disturbing. I mean you play a guy who sneaks up behind people and kills them, not the most pleasent game to play.

For those of you who don't know, Manhunt 2 (The sequal to Manhunt) has been band in a few countries and recieved an AO (Adult Only) rating from the ESRB. Sony and Nintendo both don't like AO rating games on their consoles! And, if a game get's an AO rating, it pretty much means it's not going to sell very well.

Why won't they sell AO games? Most likely because if they did, they'd get catch hell from politicians and lame lawyers like Jack Tompson.

So they had to cut down on some stuff and get Manhunt 2 an "M" rating, which they apparently have done.

Too bad they just couldn't make it a PC game, then their wouldn't be an issue with this.

I'd like to play it sometime, just to see what all the controversy is about.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/uh-oh/uncensored-manhunt-2-leaks-online-297558.php

HP's overpriced monster of a computer.

Everyone had to see this coming at one time or another. HP bought Voodoo PC's awhile back. For those of you who don't know, Voodoo PC has built high-end, puurty looking PC's for quite awhile. They've always been expensive, mostly due to their ubber nice cases and cooling.

What do you get when HP and Voodoo PC mate? The HP Blackbird 002. And what do you get with the HP Blackbird?

-Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 OC'ed @ 3.67GHZ
-ASUS Striker mobo (680i, not a P35)
-2x Nvidia 8800 Ultra's
-4 gigs of Corsair Dominator memory
-Sound Blaster X-FI Sound card
-1x Seagate 320gig
-1x WD 160 gig
-One pretty sick watercooling system

And what price does this rig come at? $6,000. Yes. You read that right. Six Thousand Dollars. This is the perfect example of something someone would buy because they have too much money and don't know what to do with it.

Here's a review for it at Hot Hardware- http://www.hothardware.com/articles/HP_Blackbird_002_High_Performance_Gaming_System/?page=1

I was pretty much in shock when I read that.

So, how much would it cost for you to build that rig yourself? This configuration is based off of the BlackBird HotHardware got in their lab.

Let's add up the costs-

-Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850- $1,449.99
-Asus Striker Mobo-$289.99
-2x Nvidia 8800 Ultra-$1458 ( $729.99 each)
-Sound Blaster X-FI Extreme Gamer-$99.99
-4 gigs of Corsair Dominator memory -$305.00
-1x 320gig HDD- $79.99
-1x 160gig HDD- $49.99
-Custom watercooling solution for OC'ing and GPU waterblocks- $400
-DVD Drive/burner- $49.99
-Cooler Master Stacker 830 w/ Rear Power Pro 1,000W PSU- $399

Prices are all from Newegg.com and Dangerden for watercooling.

What are we at? $4,579.96

Obviously, the case is different and so is the power supply. But the case is still a full tower case and probably has better air flow and more room then the HP one. The watercooling is different, this set-up cools the GPU's as well, not just the CPU. It may even hold more water, which would lead to better cooling. The power supply is a different brand, but provides just as much power.

Now, I'm not the best at Math in the world, but I'm pretty sure the Blackbird 002 is overpriced by around $1,420.94. For that much, you could add in multiple Raptor 150gigs, set up a RAID-5 and add a Blu-Ray drive.

The Blackbird comes in configurations ranging from $2,500 to $6,500 and are available soon. I sincerely hope no one's foolish enough to shell out the cash for one of these things. Sure, the hardwares pretty sick, but that's beyond overpriced.

And come on, how in the world could ANYBODY justify paying $6,000 for a PC.

Bin Laden to release a video on 9/11

This piece of doo-doo is going to release a tape addressing us on 9/11. This is the six year anniversery of the World Trade center attack.

How is this guy even still alive? And after six years, how we still have no clue where he is, and how we still haven't killed this son-of-a-bitch, is beyond me.

"Terror mastermind Osama bin Laden plans a new video addressing the American people regarding the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, terror monitoring groups said Thursday. "

Fred Thompson officially running for President

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

"Fred Thompson officially entered a wide-open Republican presidential race Thursday, vowing to invigorate a dispirited GOP and promising to thwart another Clinton from capturing the presidency."

Sweet, that's exactly who I want as my president. A 65 year old conservative whose made it well known he's anti-video games. He's also-

-Anti-Choice
-Voted no on funding smaller classes
-Voted no on funding student testing
-Voted no on including prescription drugs under medicare
-Voted no for importing drugs from Canada
-Voted no on increasing tax deductions for tuition
-Openly stated he'd do the same thing the president's doing in Iraq
-Strongly opposes gay marriage and civil unions
-Favors decrease in taxes for the wealthy
-Opposes replacing coal and oil with alternatives

What an awesome guy. I mean really. It'd be like having another four years of President Bush. If this A-hole became our next President, I'm moving to Canada.

Worlds first Space Port

Sounds like something right out of science fiction movie doesnt it?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

That's right. We're talking about a place where you go, get on a jet, and you fly to outer space and back.

"Last month, a team of U.S. and British architects and designers won a recommendation for designing the primary terminal and hangar facility at Spaceport America — structures that symbolize the world's first purpose-built commercial spaceport."

" Founded by Branson, a British entrepreneur and adventurer, Virgin Galactic was created to undertake the challenge of making private space travel available to everyone."

Yea, to everyone. Because everyone can afford to pay that un-godly amount of money to go on fly up there right? That would be pretty freaking sweet though.

I think before we know it, we'll be making flights to the moon.

Air Force official fired after 6 nukes fly over U.S.

Are you freaking kidding me?

"A B-52 bomber was mistakenly armed with six nuclear warheads and flown for more than three hours across several states last week, prompting an Air Force investigation and the firing of one commander, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.
Rep. Ike Skelton, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, called the mishandling of the weapons “deeply disturbing” and said the committee would press the military for details. Rep. Edward J. Markey, a senior member of the
Homeland Security committee, said it was “absolutely inexcusable.”

How, I say how, do you accidently fly a B-52 bomber with SIX nuclear warheads over multiple states! How did those nuclear bombs even get onto that B-52!?!?!

And you know their had to be more then just one person who knew about this. What, the whole entire crew on the airplane didn't know what cargo they were carrieing?

You'd think a commander in our US Army wouldn't make a big mistake as this.

“The American people, our friends, and our potential adversaries must be confident that the highest standards are in place when it comes to our nuclear arsenal.”

Yup, this situation sure proves that they handle nukes with care, doesnt it?

UFC 75 Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Dan Henderson

It's coming up! September 8th!

It's in London, Englad this time. Man that would be cool to do.

I still have yet to have seen a UFC match. I've been to an IFL one when they came here, that was pretty sweet. Got to see Ken Shamrock up close and personal, pretty sure it was right after he got his ass handed to him by Tito haha.

Maybe I'll get the money to head down to Vegas to catch a fight there? That'd be a blast.

Good at first person shooters? Win hella cash!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not.

The game's called Kwari. It's an online first person shooter. It's free to download. You only pay for the guns and amo you use in the game.

How do you win cash? You pwn people in the game and be the one with the most kills. Awesome right? You get money per kill depending on the kill. The pay ranges from one cent to one dollar. Headshots most likely paying out the most. Sounds like all those years playing CS and Quake will finally pay off!

The catch? People kill you, you lose money too. People get what, 20+ kills in CS depending on the match. Just imagine you being the one getting killed over and over again.

People have already ended their lives because of video games(WoW and Evercrack)

I can see this turning bad pretty fast. We're talking about a video game genre that's already extremley competitive. Add money for kills in there and you've got a deadly combination.

This is going to add more fuel for anti-video game politians. Expect to see Jack Thompson on CNN about this before it's even released.

Gizmodo's coverage of the new Ipod

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Apple getting into mobile gaming? Purchase songs via Wi-Fi at Starbucks while you have your coffee? It looks like Apple continues to have a stronghold on portable audio market with their new Ipod Touch.

I wonder if the music that you can purchase at the Starbucks is DRM free?

Pretty much, new Ipod = Iphone, but at a cheaper price. It looks like the Ipod Touch has an MSRP of $299 for the 8GB version and $399 for the 16GB version.

They even talk about their new Ipod Video. Now they have even more colors to choose from and they even look thinner then before. Sweet.

Now watch as Ebay and CL get flooded with used video ipods.

How can apple hope to sell any Iphones with the new Ipod having virtually the same functionaility, save being able to actually call someone.

The new Ipod touch is going to be JUST like the Iphone was when it was first released, nothing but a status symbol.

I still have my 60gig video Ipod I've had for almost two years now that I'm quite content with.

This company releases new stuff every month. They just came out with their new Imac's; not too long ago they came out with the Apple TV (Does anybody actaully use those?), and in Oct. they're going to be releasing their new Leopard OS for Mac's.

To me, Apple is just as Evil as M$.
